On 15 January 2019 we get surprise lecture by Dr. Jay Mehta Sir on Mass Media and Communication. It was very fruitful to get the basic knowledge about media, its development form the ancient time.
There are six major sources of mass media:-

1. Radio
2. Television
3. Cinema
4. Advertisement
5. Newspaper
6. Digital Media

1. Radio
Radio plays an important role in the beginning. it uses news spread from one field to another. ' Sky channel ' is the most popular worldwide.

2. Television
Television plays an important role too. Earlier, when the TV started, there was only one channel ' Television ' We can see today's many channels.

3. Cinema
Cinema plays an important role. it is known as the charming world. which are very attractive, we rarely get the facts. Cinematography is very helpful for getting information. Nowadays, cinema is one of the most popular sources of media and communication. Cinema has shown us entertainment as well as social problems and current issues.

4. Advertisement
Ads are also an important part of mass media and communication. Advertising is one of the marketing strategies to promote products to consumers. Many advertising are available offering interesting advertising packages. Media plays an important role in displaying the good and the bad to the audience.

5.Newspaper
Newspaper is also played vital role on mass media. When we have not got freedom at that time newspaper and also many other magazines are played vital role to get freedom.

6.digital Media
Now a days digital media is a strong medium to mass media. we know that in 21st century, the century is all about digitization and today all news are spread very quickly but its limitations are that we should not trust any matter quickly but first we needed cross checking and after accept any things.

Da Vinci Code :Thinking Activity

Thinking Activity :Da Vinci Code

1) Brown states on his website that his books are not anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."

We can say that Brown States' statement is right regarding the novel 'Da Vinci Code'. It is not anti-Christian novel and we can prove it through the last part of the novel. We can say that it is 'constant spiritual journey' because we can find spiritual discussion and debate throughout the novel. But it not means that it is anti- Christian book because it ends with the faith in Christianity. So after all I want to say that I am agreeing with this point.

2)  Although it is obvious that much of what Brown presented in his novel as absolutely true and accurate is neither of those, some of that material is of course essential to the intrigue, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has retained the novel's core, the Grail-related material: the sacred feminine, Mary Magdalene's marriage, the Priory of Sion, certain aspects of Leonardo's art, and so on.” How far do you agree with this observation of Norris J. Lacy?

The pagan religion note in Christianity we find it just because as other religion are also believe in patriarchy and Christianity also believe in patriarchy so there is a doubtful on Shepherd feminine just because sometime we believe that purity come with the man but we forget that woman has home that only has power to give a life in this universe that's why the sacred feminine is more powerful than other.

3) (If)You have studied ‘Genesis’ (The Bible), ‘The Paradise Lost’ (John Milton) and ‘The Da Vinci Code’ (Dan Brown). Which of the narrative/s seem/s to be truthful? Whose narrative is convincing to the contemporary young mind?

The pagan religion note in Christianity we find it just because as other religion are also believe in patriarchy and Christianity also believe in patriarchy so there is a doubtful on Shepherd feminine just because sometime we believe that purity come with the man but we forget that woman has home that only has power to give a life in this universe that's why the sacred feminine is more powerful than other.

4)  4) What harm has been done to humanity by the biblical narration or that of Milton’s in The Paradise Lose? What sort of damage does narrative like ‘The Vinci Code’ do to humanity?

As per my understating , we know that paradise lost by john Milton tell some kind of ancient or traditional story how to put faith blindly on that, no  doubt   it may be  true also.  but If  we study the Da Vinci code by Dan brown so it’s seems  also Really convincing story to anybody read so they might be fill that the way he narrate the story. Any young mind fill that it’s really happened  episode in the real word. So find that Dan brown narrated is truthful narration.

5) What difference do you see in the portrayal of 'Ophelia' (Kate Winslet) in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, 'Elizabeth' (Helena Bonham Carter) in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or 'Hester Prynne' (Demi Moore) in Roland Joffé's The Scarlet Letter' or David Yates's 'Harmione Granger' (Emma Watson) in last four Harry Potter films - and 'Sophie Neuve' (Audrey Tautau) in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code? How would justify your answer?

Character of Ophelia to Sophie Neveu we can see the vast difference. Women characters always follower of male member of society and depended to them. Sometimes woman used as an object only to serve family members. Society looks towards women as inferior way and always tried to defeat them. But here the women characters are different to struggled and fight with the odd situations.

6)Do novel / film lead us into critical (deconstructive) thinking about your religion? Can we think of such conspiracy theory about Hindu religious symbols / myths?

The whole book is based on the symbol of the Da Vinci. The more using symbol Holy Grail is itself we can say archetypal symbol, which contain an entire pattern of themes of the novel. However as an archetypal symbol we can read as dreams as well as other psychic phenomenon.

7) Have you come across any similar book/movie, which tries to deconstruct accepted notions about Hindu religion or culture and by dismantling it, attempts to reconstruct another possible interpretation of truth?

Yes we can find this kind of things in GOD TUSSI GREAT HO movie, it's deconstruct the idea of god, and the existence of god.

 8) When we do traditional reading of the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’, Robert Langdon, Professor of Religious Symbology, Harvard University emerges as protagonist and Sir Leigh Teabing, a British Historian as antagonist. Who will claim the position of protagonist if we do atheist reading of the novel?

When we do traditional reading of the novel 'The DA Vinci Code', Robert Langdon, Profecer of religious symbology, Harvard University emerges as protagonist and sir Leigh Teabing, a British historian as antagonist. Teabing will claim the position of protagonist if we do atheist reading of the novel.

9)  Explain Ann Gray’s three propositions on ‘knowability’ with illustrations from the novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

Deals with the assumption, all the characters claims that they are known something.

Sir Leigh Teabing and Robert Langton both are in the quest for the truth of Holy Grail.

Sir Leigh Teabing known about the greed of Aringarosa whereas Langdon and Sophie has pure intentions.

Rivers and Tides Documentary

Rivers and Tides :Documentary Film

Rivers and Tides is a documentary by Goldswothy. It present transitory nature of time ,life and art. This documentary is about the concept of a 'Time' by Andy Goldsworthy. He works in nature, and his works are ultimately nature as well. Using water, snow, stone, and dirt etc...

The documentary described about Scottish landscapes. He talks about the impact of sheep on the Scottish landscape, and made a chain of green leaves and placed them in the water. Beautiful stonewall, crosses a field, and goes under a river, and emerges to wind through the trees on the other side.

In documentary , working with time , art and life. It also reflects transitory nature. Different way of looking at art. It also explain philosophical ideas the art going to die very soon. Not permanent, thus process of life and death in nature. In documentary not only art is there but Goldsworthy connects philosophy with it. That is more significant.

" Art for me is a form of nourishment . " Goldsworthy creates something and destroyed by nature. Then he said , " It was my gift to them ." He not felt sorrow for it. He accepts the thing and again does new experiment with nature. Thus  all are beautiful moments with nature.

OD:- Cultural studies and Postcolonialism....

Online discussion on Cultural studies and Postcolonialism. .

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's academy Award for her documentry, A girl in the River, has been much celebrated at home. Deservedly so.
Her movie is showing to saving face which spotlit the horror of acid attack.

Sharmeen's point also same Sharmeen's first Oscar award winning documentary film, A Girl in the River, portrayed a negative side of India. Has been much celebrated at home. Deservedly  so. In this documentary, she has presented reality of women's life that how women in Pakistan are suffering by the honour killing which may bring change in women's life after showing the true picture of it. Once reality came out, we can change the bad situation but if it is still hidden we can't do anything as there are so many crimes happen with women daily which can't reported in news or by any documentary like this.

For ,Many examples like slumdog Millionaire then Malala yusufai and many more have the same problem that they are resisted because of their naked truths. As rightly said in article also that, "we find that these stories shame us, then we must do something about them. But for those of us still fixated on the ‘image’ issue, it’s quite simple really:

The Sense of an Ending

Thinking Activity : The sense of an Ending

1)  How do you understand memory and history with reference to your reading of his novel.

We all have our own narratives of life. You have a "version" of that life that is a story you tell yourself and others, about what your life has been. But it is only that, a story, and it is just one version of a possible number of stories. Tony reealizes that the version of his life that he has said is himself a recollection of an event that is inherently wrong. He comes to realize that the distortion of memory can change anything and everything that he believes is true for so long.

2)  How do you understand the concept of suicide with reference to your reading of literature ranging form Renaissance play hamlet, 20th century existentialist philosophy and history this 21st century novel The sense of an Ending ?

In the 20th century-
If we see suicide in 20th century Existentialist philosophy, then we can remember First Waiting for Godot It is based on Existentialism and Vladimir and Estragon wants to do it. They have no responsibility in life They have nothing to live life If we see it as philosophical way that means is when people are not able to maintain meaning that they are most psychotically vulnerable.

Existentialism movement emphasizes individual existence and human rights in the form of rational decisions. Hamlet kills Claudius, grave scene, the skull of Yorick all suggest futility of human condition.

Thinking Activity : The White Tiger and Slumdog Millionaire

Thinking Activity : The White Tiger and Slumdog Millionaire

Similarities between The White Tiger and Slumdog Millionaire :-

1)  Narrative structure :-

The novel and the film's almost similar structure Both works starts with flashback techniques.

In the novel Balram saw the poster and remembered his past. Same as in movie Jamal has questions on screen in KBC show and for the answer he is going to his past. The start of the game How the Indian police also portrayed in the film, was written in Mumbai 2006 very contemporary times come and then question comes. The film is all about the Kaun Banega Crorepati being the basic structure narrative the strategy.

2) Indianness
In the movie and novel the picture of India is presented. Many things in both are same about India.

Indianness :-  Family structure
                      -     Trains
                      -    Two brothers :- lost and found Bollywoodish
                      - Poetic justice
                      - Police system
                      - Different between "knowledge "and "Understanding "

# Two  brothers :-  Two brothers lost and and found is archetype Also reflects Indianness in both narration Slim's departure and meeting shows that thing.

#Trains (Railway Station :- Train and station narration in both reflects Indianness .Balram 'S wanted poster and run away after crime all at the station. Jamal 'S quest, love and ending all at the station. Thus station reflects Indianness.

#Police system :- In Slumdog millionaire also police is corrupted .Thus it  reflects Indianness.

Ans. Jack Hobbs

9. In Alexander Dumas' book, "The Three Musketeers", two of the musketeers are called Athos and Porthos. What was the name of the third musketeer?

4) Deconstruction of film post colonial perspective.

Colonial post presented by writer and director in other people's mindset about India. The film described the harsh reality of India.Director used the reality of India, politics, the real side of police system, Child Abuse.

So by this director portrayed white people as good, civilised sofisticated and humble people. While on the other hand than Indian portrayed as poor, dirty, uncivilized, corrupt, uneducated people. The term is self based on the power dynamics. It shows the superiority of white on the Indian people.

5)  Compare with Texture and Treatment of subject content in film and novel.

In novel and the film based on darker side of India. The film is happy Evil is punish good is rewarded more miracle way He is an immemorial We know that poetic justice it means justice is real world. But we frames for justice.

Texture in Both Mortar Is Is Abot India As Corrupted and Flood Country Willas, Landlord, Educations All Representatives The Darkness of India

Feminism Reading of Harry Potter

In we are saw that J.K.Rowling has been presented to Hermione as a very brave and smart girl in each every series. Hermione is quit simple, Beautiful ,intelligent and brave girl yet. Harry potter follows some gender stereotypes. Strong character like McGonagall  and Hermione comes under the aura of harry and Dumbledore.

Hermione is all way's sues her reason and logic in order to solve problems and  than Harry and Ron ;but in last two parts her mind stops working as it sparks with an idea in her mind in previous series and Ron was shown Smarter when it comes to destroyed Horcrux. Hermione fights battles differently than do the boys in the novels. She is always the one standing at a crossroads pointing the way.

Hermione is perfect example in feminist reading. So we can say that Hermione is such a character who did not give up in her life and kept on fighting for rights of equal right. She is became role model for woman because she works really hard.

Education and Technology

Education and Technology :- Thinking activity

 1) Can technology replace teacher?

A teacher is so much more than a facilitator ,they are also a guide and a mentor.Without a great teacher, technology merely becomes an automated tool and stops inspiring and engaging student. Ultimately, is isn't about teachers being replaced by technology but how teachers can adapt to incorporate technology in their lessons.

Technology teaching was at center and when we talk about 20th century, education system teacher and teaching was in the center. It is really happening when we study flipped learning classroom activity and Flinnt ,kind  of app to learn something there is really happen Technology replace teacher .But this all made but in a way a human beings.

2) What is the difference between 'using 'and 'integrating 'technology?

Image result for using and integrating technology image

To  use technology is its basic access but integrating technology is using for deeper knowledge and create something new and useful.Technology used to deliver information or for study related tasks.

Using Technology means teacher Use technology for teaching making a blog website  presentation application from etc.Adjust for helping for teaching it call to using where integrate means both are used Technology.

'One night @ the call centre' : Thinking Activity

Image result for one night @ call centre

 1) Narrative structure of the Novel.Compare with Life of PI.

In the novel Chetan Bhagat's narrative technique to very important apart form what is told in story .How part is also very important writer himself was traveling in train from Kanpur to Delhi. He listen story and that story is told by Shyam. The epilogue and prologue is interested in both.In the Movie the main character named Pi also experience with the God ,and other side in the novel the all six character also experience with God when they are in trouble .This novel is known as 'Dramedy ' Pi also give statement that, Maturity doesn't come with age ,its come with experience. The end of the movie is so attractive rather than the Novel.

2) Self help Book

Self help book in very famous concept which help you to be better oe develop your personality .The Self help book is also about the popular psychology of relationship  and human and their minds condition .Self help book is helpful to improve readers present condition.

3) Popular Literature

Chetan Bhagat  is very famous for its popular literature on@tcc can be considered as popular literature because it does not have proper plot structure ,there is plot between love and break up and love of Shyam and Priyanka. It shows the condition of young India,so we also call it popular literature.

4) On@TCC As a  Cyberpunk

This novel is connected with the Science and Technology In the novel we saw that there is much use of technology and science. The all character are the users of high technology .All the character some how connected with the computers and other technology .This novel cyberpunk because vroom hacks Bakshi's email and writes email to Esha on his behalf and blackmail bakshi and exhorted money from him to start new company with Shyam. So , this novel called as cyberpunk novel.
