About Author:


Anton Chekhov was born in Southern Russia in 1869. He was a master of the short stories as well as modern Playwrights. Chekhov went to medical school and published his advice. Although getting his medical degree in 1884 he never practiced medicine. Dying at the age of 44 with tuberculosis, Chekhov was at the height of his career.




About The Play:


In this play there is tension the two lovebirds have reasoned They are being able to get their point across to each other


Key Ideas of the play:


- Stubborn people with different views

- Pettiness was shown


The Proposal is about a man asking for his hand in marrisge. The man is Lomov and the daughter is Nathalia, the father is Tschubukov. Lomov goes to Tschubuko's house and is going to ask Nahtalia to marry him So Lomov leaves but then Tschubukov tell him to come back. At the end Lomov and Nathalia talk but get into an argument about who has the best hunting dog and faints. But when he is back, they will continue to kiss and makeup at the end.


Literary Analysis:


The author, in order to progress the story, uses the couple's arguments. He shows how angry they get at one another, but then something will happen to one of them, and they are immediately forgotten about and show their love for each other. In our opinion, the author is trying to say that love always triumphs.
